Ironwood Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Hinckley, Ohio.
Ironwood Golf Course first opened for play in 1967. The course was designed by Harold Paddock.
Ironwood is a traditional parkland golf course. It is one of the most popular public courses in the area because of the consistent turf conditions, scenery, layout and affordable greens fees. The course's small greens are flat and fast and devoid of any sand bunkers guarding them. However, water hazards come into play on the course at least seven times. And although the greens are flat, the course has nice elevation changes and rolling terrain.
Blue tees: par-71, 6,360 yards, 69.7 / 118
White tees: par-71, 6,042 yards, 68.3 / 115
Red tees: par-74, 5,785 yards, 72.8 / 124

If you don't mind slow play(course caters to seniors),long and hump filled fairways that never give you a level lie, unlevel tees with sparse grass, and slow greens filled with ball marks, then you can have this place. Staff is nice but course is filled with slow seniors there for the $20 special who don't repair divots or ball marks on green. Never was like this years ago!

Saw that this course was almost across the street from Hinckley Hills GC, so I thought I'd give it a try. I was chasing league play and was told the Back 9 (Tips 2,981yd / Par 35) would clear faster so $23 for 9/cart away I went. With all the rain here lately, coupled with the Back 9 being the drainage area, soft conditions was a under statement. This Back 9 is a rolling layout that works it way down (13,14,15) to a creek and then back up. You start out on #10 with a easy downhill 391yd Par 4 that feeds into #11 that's a 210yd Par 3 and plays short. The #12 is a straight away 420yd Par 4 that plays to its Hcp 2 rating. Now here's where the soft fairways and bumpy green conditions start and it's cart path only for a reason. I did like the water crossings on #14 342yd Par 4 and the water 210yd layup on the narrow #15 341yd Par 4 to the 50' elevated/blind green. The #17 149yd Par 3 is a three (3) club 60' uphill shot to another small blind green. There are no traps to worry about on this four (4) tee box Back 9 but the soft/bumpy greens, ragged Par 3 tee boxes are inexcusable. They've had plenty of time to roll and make them somewhat smooth . Yardage blocks were in the middle and some paint markings on the cart paths. I was told later the Front 9 (3,383yd / Par 36) is drier and much better condition than the Back 9, I would hope so. I ended up shooting 39 w/16 putts only because I was chipping close on my missed greens. If playing here again, I'll make sure its dry and always from the Black's at 3,383/2,981 @ 67.7 / 118 Par 36/35. Senior rates are $30 18/cart during the week and some specials on different days. (Hinckley Hills GC was a much better all round conditioned layout)
